General concepts for managing familial chylomicronemia syndrome (FCS)

Resistance to traditional triglyceride-lowering medications necessitates other management strategies.12,14,34

Currently, no pharmacologic therapies for reducing plasma triglyceride levels in people with FCS have approval in the US.

That leaves two primary cornerstones for managing FCS34:

  • Severe restriction of dietary fats and simple carbohydrates
  • Multidimensional support to help patients minimize the burden of FCS
